Three players have been shortlisted for the 2017
FIFA Best player of the year in the mens category. The players that made it to
the last three men are: Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. the
winner will be announced at the ceremony in London on 23rd of
October 2017.
FIFA launched the award in 2016 to replace the
prestigious Ballon d’Or award which has been with the FIFA best player of the
year. The Ballon d’Or award will no longer be in partnership with FIFA best
player of the year and will still be presented separately by the Magazine
France Football.
Christiano Ronaldo was the forst person to receive
the FIFA player of the year when it was separated from Ballon d’Or in the year
2016.
This year FIFA best player of the year started with
a 24-man with was shortlisted by a group of “FIFA legends” which includes of Carles
Puyol, Cafu and Maradona.

The nominees was voted in between 21st of
August and 7th of September by national team coaches, selected
media, fans and national team captains, each of the four categories were
weighted evenly.
