The security outfit unveiled Thursday in Ibadan is the "military wing" of the Oodua Peoples Congress, according to the NYCN.
It added that in the league of the proscribed Independent Peoples of Biafra, the newly established security outfit.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, NYCN National President Alhaji Isah Abubakar urged Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to refrain from allowing what he described as "inconstitutionality."
Abubakar said, "The Southwest Amotekun Group is a masked OPC military wing in the same league with the IPOB being outlawed. This unconstitutionality must not be allowed to prevail by the President.
"The governors of the Southwest must desist from supporting such nefarious groups.
"Amotekun is a threat to peace and national security and an attempt to undermine the integrity of Nigeria.
"In their formative stages, Amotekun is no different from Boko Haram and the IPOB Movement.
"Nigerian police, DSS, and Southwest governors should not take this lightly.
“The National Security Adviser should promptly take steps that will avert the looming threat to our national security that is about to be threatened by Southwest governors, OPC and others,” Abubakar said.
