The virus has killed about 5,000 people since its spread in China in December, with at least 138,000 infected across more than 100 countries.
While there's still to be a COVID-19 vaccine, the group of worshippers— called Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (All India Hindu Union)—hosted the party in Delhi, the capital of the country, hoping to shield themselves from the killer virus.
The event known as "gaumutra party" drew many in queues, according to The Hindu, an Indian media outlet, as the material was poured out from kettles into small cups— known as "kulhads."

The party started off with cow prayers and then coronavirus, asking it to leave peacefully and not kill more people.
A large poster was also installed to show an avatar of Hindu god Narsingh as the virus.
The group's founder, Swami Chakrapani, has revealed that COVID-19 is the manifestation of a god who has come to punish those who consume non-vegetarian meals.
"Coronavirus has come because of those killing and consuming animals. Once you kill an animal it generates a kind of energy in that position that causes damage, "Chakrapani said.
"Global leaders should get imported cow urine from India because the all-powerful exists only in the Indian cow and not in any international breed.
"I am asking all of the world's presidents and prime ministers to take daily cow urine. You've got all these people who don't know the antidote, we got the cure the gods gave us.

Many Hindus are believed to regard the cow as holy, including some members of the Hindu nationalist party who had previously proposed using cow urine and dung to treat coronavirus.
"We have been drinking cow urine for 21 years, and we take a cow-dung bath too. We have never felt the need to take English medication, "one attendee Reuters quoted for saying.

Despite claims about the tradition of "cow urine drinking," medical experts have warned repeatedly that cow urine does not cure diseases such as cancer, and there is no proof that it can prevent coronavirus.
